The present invention relates to a protective cover for a plasticizing cylinder of a molding machine having the features of the preamble of claim 1, a plasticizing unit having such a protective cover, and a molding machine having such a plasticizing unit.
From DE 37 42 403 C1 discloses a protective cover, in which a connector strip covers the front side of a protective cover in the area below the plasticizing.
Protective covers are known in which a terminal box is externally attached to the protective cover.
The object of the invention is to provide a protective cover with a more compact design, in which a simple and quick change of the plasticizing unit is possible, and to provide a plasticizing unit with such a protective cover and a forming machine with such a plasticizing unit.
This object is achieved by a protective cover having the features of claim 1, a plasticizing unit with such a protective cover and a shaping machine with such a plasticizing unit. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are defined in the dependent claims.
The at least one wall may be formed in various ways (in isolation or any combination), for example: as a single wall in a curved shape, enclosing an interior of at least about 90 ° to about 200 °, as two straight walls in L-shape. Configuration - as three straight walls in U configuration

When replacing the plasticizing unit thus no separation between heating bands and terminal box is necessary. - By combining several heating cable or heating cables on a plug in the terminal box a small number of connectors in the terminal box is achieved. - Due to the integration of the terminal box, only one interface is necessary for different screw diameters and ratios of length / diameter of the plasticizing units. This allows a simple and quick change of a plasticizing unit and the same cable with different plasticizing units can be used, which allows standardization of the cable lengths. - The integration of the terminal box on the plasticizing makes it possible to standardize the interface between a main cabinet of the molding machine and the plasticizing unit.
It is particularly preferred that the terminal box has a side facing the plasticizing cylinder in the assembled state, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the interior and is of concave design. As a result, the terminal box can cling, so to speak, to the cylindrical contour of the plasticizing cylinder.
It is according to the invention at least one terminal box per plasticizing available, however, several terminal boxes can be provided. The arrangement is preferably made on a side wall of the protective cover or a lateral portion of the at least one wall, but it is also an arrangement on the top or bottom of the plasticizing possible.
The ratio between the distance of a side wall of the protective cover from the center axis of the plasticizing cylinder and the outer radius of the plasticizing cylinder is in a range from about 3 to about 1.1 (preferably from about equal to 2.5 to about 1.4), and is preferably less than 1.6.
It can also be provided to arrange a control and / or power electronics for the heating strips in the interior of the protective cover, preferably in the terminal box. This allows a decentralized control and / or power supply for the control of the heating bands. This decentralization creates more space in the main control cabinet of the forming machine.
Most preferably, it is provided that the openable lid is designed as a lid of the terminal box, wherein preferably the lid of the terminal box is flush with the wall having the opening, so that the terminal box is arranged completely in the interior except for the lid. In this embodiment, the terminal box fits optimally into the protective cover of the plasticizing unit. Since the terminal box does not protrude out of the protective cover, there are no pinch points between the nozzle guard and clamping loads. As a result, the ejection protection can be made tight fitting, which further improves operator safety.
It can be provided that the interface connector of the terminal box are arranged so that the plug directions are parallel to the wall of the protective cover, which has the opening.
Preferably, the interface connector are pluggable.
Due to the integration of the terminal box on the heated plasticizing cylinder, a thermal decoupling of the terminal box from the heating bands may be required, in particular in the case of the conforming construction. This can be done in different ways (individually or in any combination): - Reduction of heat transfer by radiation by means of: • Attaching of jet protection plates between terminal box and plasticizing cylinder. • Use of blasting protection films on the terminal box. • Use of insulating mats on the terminal box. • Isolation of the plasticizing cylinder - Reduction of heat transfer by conduction through the use of thermal insulation elements in the mechanical connection of the terminal box to the plasticizing cylinder. - Reduction of heat transfer through line by arranging a defined air space between plasticizing and terminal box. - Use of a cooling device: • Active cooling (preferably controlled) of the terminal box by water or air cooling. • Cooling ribs arranged on the terminal box. • Use of the chimney effect resulting from a gap between the plasticizing cylinder and the terminal box (cooling effect due to natural convection).
It can be provided that the plasticizing unit has a visualization and / or interface for an operator, for. For example: - display of status information on a display (eg defective heating tapes, current temperatures and temperature distributions, current switching status, remaining service life of the installed heating tapes) - integrated user interface on the plasticizing unit (eg possibility of setting the temperature (s) directly on the plasticizing unit) - Integrated interface on the plasticizing unit to an external user interface (eg wireless or wired for a mobile or stationary device)
It is preferably provided that a cable harness, which connects the terminal box with the heating bands, is arranged above the plasticizing cylinder. If temperature-resistant cables are used, the cable harness can be arranged below the protective cover of the plasticizing cylinder without additional cable protection. It is preferably provided that a nozzle heating band and an associated temperature sensor are connected to the terminal box via a plug connection. This can be done a very rapid exchange of the nozzle heating.
The terminal box can have at least one information interface for connecting (eg plugging in) a sensor or data bus.
The plug, which is closest to the filling opening of the plasticizing cylinder, ideally has a defined distance A for the same outside diameter of the plasticizing cylinder and a given size of the plasticizing unit. However, the size of the distance A can be chosen freely.
The plugs are preferably arranged in a protected manner, so that they are not damaged during installation of the plasticizing unit by means of a leveling foot of the plasticizing unit and a plasticizing cylinder support.
